This specialty primarily targets hormonal imbalances and metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, adrenal gland disorders, and thyroid diseases. Diabetes medications include those that stimulate insulin secretion (such as sulfonylureas), increase cellular sensitivity to insulin (such as biguanides), and inhibit hepatic glycogen production. Injectable insulin and GLP-1 inhibitors, as well as DPP-4 inhibitors, are also used.
